Young Church
The aim of the Young Church
is to develop an inviting community for the younger members of the church. The Young Church
lessons try to mix learning and fun. It is a place where Bible stories are
taught and discussions encouraged through age appropriate activities and
worship.

Organisation
The Leven Parish Church Young Church is organised
into three classes. There are four Young
Church teachers, with one
main lead teacher who coordinates the sessions and the worship. The rest of the
teachers are responsible for leading special activities with their age group. The
Young Church runs throughout the whole school
year with a reduced number of classes during holidays. In the summer months the
children are especially invited to our family services at 9:30am every Sunday.
Time
The children and their parents are invited to come to the Lesser Hall on Sunday
at 10:50am and got to the church service together for 11am. They sit together
in the front of the church and stay for two hymns and a children’s talk.
After that the Young
Church leaves and goes
back to the Lesser Hall for their groups. The Young Church
finishes with a joint short worship with songs, a wee revision of the
day’s Bible story and a prayer.
On the Sundays when Holy Communion is
celebrated, the Young
Church stays in the
Lesser Hall and has longer group activities.
Typically a nativity play is organised at the beginning of December on Sunday mornings
and performed at the last Sunday service before Christmas, involving as many
children as possible. We have a Christmas party and a summer and autumn
get-together, usually a picnic with all who want to come.
